Construction is doing quite well and local businesses are benefiting. This is the case of Ferblanterie Ouellet of La Pocatière, which has just obtained important contracts in Beauce and Gaspésie.
By moving to a higher level of contracts, the company has achieved its usual revenue… before it’s even started its fiscal year. “We can therefore hope to at least double our sales and expand our business,” says owner Jean-François Ouellet.
The company’s ability to respond to larger contracts due to available manpower, space and financial growth allows it to bid on larger projects. Ferblanterie will be responsible for the ventilation, air conditioning and heating of a Ministry of Transport building in Gaspé, a contract worth over three-quarters of a million dollars as a subcontractor. Ferblanterie Ouellet was already present in Gaspé for a contract at the local police station. Two other important contracts to be signed in Beauce have been added. The contribution of the company’s senior project manager, Claude Dionne, made it possible to obtain these contracts.
“These are timely contracts in our development and expansion. We have the capacity on the plant side to grow. Also, it allows us to maintain and create new jobs,” added Jean-François Ouellet.
He expects another good year in 2021. “There’s a lot of talk about ventilation in schools and institutions and that’s our niche, so it’s a good market for us,” he concluded.
